Hartford, Connecticut

Year: 2013-2019

Client: Hartford School Building Committee

Project Cost: $65 Million

The $65 million renovation of Weaver High School in Hartford, originally built in 1974, modernized the facility while reducing capacity from 2,000 to 900 students and preserving key community assets such as the stadium, auditorium, and field house. Freeman provided land surveying, civil engineering, and geotechnical services, playing a critical role in evaluating the feasibility of downsizing or replacing the five-story academic wing, which presented daylighting and soil challenges. The project also introduced an at-grade rail crossing to connect the campus with the University of Hartford. A phased construction approach ensured continued facility use, with full student occupancy achieved by the 2018–2019 school year.
