Franklin Ave & Maple Ave Streetscape and Intersection Alignment

Streetscape and roadway improvements along Maple Avenue and Franklin Avenue in Hartford were designed to enhance safety, accessibility, and community connectivity while preserving development opportunities through strategic curb cut consolidation. Led by Freeman, the project incorporated complete streets features including raised medians, decorative crosswalks, bike lanes, upgraded sidewalks, ornamental lighting, and traffic signal improvements, with a major redesign at the Franklin and Maple Avenue intersection. Extensive public outreach and advocacy helped advance the project from a feasibility study to construction. This project created a new gateway to Hartford’s South End, improving traffic flow and safety creating a cost-effective, community-driven urban enhancement.
