Our Story

Freeman was founded with a simple but powerful belief: that engineering and design can be tools for progress, equity, and lasting community impact. What began as a bold vision by founder and CEO Rohan Freeman has grown into a thriving multidisciplinary land development firm known for excellence, responsiveness, and purpose-driven work.

Born in Jamaica and raised in Hartford, CT, Rohan Freeman forged a unique path by becoming a licensed civil engineer, a successful entrepreneur, and notably, the first African American to summit both Mount Everest and complete the Seven Summits. His perseverance, leadership, and drive to serve others continue to shape the culture and mission of Freeman today.

Since our founding, we’ve built a team of dedicated professionals who bring passion, technical excellence, and deep local knowledge to every project. We’ve grown across disciplines offering civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, traffic and transportation engineering, environmental sciences, land surveying, and landscape architecture, all under one roof.

Our projects range in scale and complexity, but our focus remains the same: to deliver work that reflects our communities, respects the land, and builds a better future. As a certified MBE, DBE, and SBE firm, we’re proud to champion diversity within our industry while serving public, private, and institutional clients across Connecticut and the Northeast.

We believe the best results come from collaboration, integrity, and a shared commitment to something greater than ourselves. That’s how we work. That’s our story, and we’re just getting started.
