Waterbury Department of Education: John F. Kennedy High School Alterations and Additions
The project is defined as additions and alterations to the existing 214,675 SF Kennedy High School. The project consists of the rehabilitation and construction of new school facilities with associated site improvements to the 12-acre site, including athletic fields and courts.
Improvements consisted of a new 2-story 30,000 SF academic building. Due to the site's steep grading, a second story glass-enclosed foot bridge was installed in order to connect the existing school building to the new two-story building. Site improvements for the high school consisted of new athletic fields and courts, reconfiguration of parking lots, provisions for handicap access to all facilities, construction of retaining walls, and the introduction of new stormwater management systems. Assistance to the Owner and OPM was also provided for wetland coordination, CT DEEP permitting, stormwater monitoring and routine inspection, turbidity sampling, field observation, lab transmittals and paperwork.
